Hi. New Ruger collector here trying to learn more about the US-marked .22 pistols that Ruger manufactured for the US gov't. Are there any articles or books on this topic that y'all could point me to? Thanks!

Welcome to the forum and yes all of the older Ruger books on the 22 semi autos by such as Munnell, Hiddleson, and Dougan cover these and the newer later versions can be checked out in such as the RENE ( Red Eagle news Exchange) and as many will tell you ,on line searches will also put you in the right direction (YOUR ) choice of search engines, as I do not pick out ANY favorites, as they say "such and such is your friend" good luck ...........(y);)

Thanks. Are there any "bad" Ruger books? Newbie question: How do I private message folks on this forum if I have specific questions? Thanks!

I reached out via email to RENE. The ad mentioned the price was equvalent to the price of a case of beer, which could be a lot fiven today's inflation. I look forward to reading it while drinking a beer!

Vistafjord,, "Welcome!"

As noted,, more posts shows you are actually an active person, & not a scammer/spammer. By your requests,, it's obvious you want to learn more.

The author of the book, "chet15" is Chad Hiddleson. And if you've sent him an email,, he'll get back to you. Sometimes it'll take a day or three.

As for any "bad" Ruger books,, well, not really,, but some of the older ones may have info that turned out to be incorrect as we gained more knowledge about specific things.
Chad's book as well as John Dougan's "Ruger Pistols & Revolvers, the Vintage Years is excellent. But if you get that one,, there were some mistakes,, and you'll want the corrected info.

I've chased any & all publications on Rugers & as far as I know,, I have a complete set of published books. A library is an invaluable tool.

On the subject of "Government-marked" pistols; are we talking about the government target models or something that is US stamped? I'm asking because I ran across a government target model Mark II in a LGS recently. They were asking $450 I believe, and would probably go as low as $400.
