And don't overlook the trigger... There's the Volquartsen kits or complete drop-in assemblies. For the money, I prefer the Hornet....

As to barrels, how much do you want to spend? Green Mountain is probably the most cost effective. I got a Kidd instead because of the issues with Bentz chambering on the GM barrels making for problematic extraction of live rounds. Less likely on the Kidds. Not much of an issue for a target gun, I guess, but I don't particularly want to be worrying about that on a gun I carry around in the woods.
As to triggers, I have a Volquartsen TG2000 on an otherwise stock 10-22 TT Really excellent, but $200+. For half the cost, I just ordered a Kidd trigger rebuild kit-new parts in the stock Ruger housing. Certainly seems to get good reviews, but we'll see.
I've got a nice KIDD trigger and barrel on one 10/22. They make good quality stuff and priced similarly to Volquartsen.
