More about this modification, and larger pictures on https://vicknairgunsmithing.blogspot.com/2017/01/now-for-something-completely-different.html , half way down.

Newer understood why Ruger insist on hammers used on their DA revolvers. Colt (Python) and S&W (N-frame, target hammer on L and K frame) have way better design.

Well, I will say that those are different - a single action hammer look on a double action. Not saying his "vision" is wrong, it is his vision and he did a very nice job on that revolver.

Next comments (rhetorical) - What was the cost of the hammers on S&W's and Colts DA's as compared to the cost of the completely functional hammer on the Ruger DA's. What was the cost of a Ruger compared to the cost of a S&W or Colt?

Remember, Bill Ruger wanted to make/sell guns that the average person could afford to own and shoot and he made them rugged.

You've got a point.

However, mine is if Ruger can make hammer for SBH, what's big deal making same style of hammer spur on DA revolvers?

Model: HUNTER, NEW MODEL SUPER BLACKHAWK, VAQUERO SA, Hammer, Wide Spur, Stainless, New Factory Original (bare), $32.90 https://www.gunpartscorp.com/products/247080

Model: NEW MODEL BLACKHAWK Hammer Assembly, Blued, Used Factory Original, $25.00 https://www.gunpartscorp.com/products/241020

So, even new SBH hammer (bare) versus used BH hammer, the difference is just $7.90. Assembled SBH hammer should cost $10-15 more. I will pay in a heartbeat triple more for DA Ruger revolver to have hammer spur as on SBH. I bet that in production hammer with wider spur for DA revolvers wouldn't cost more than $10-15.
