U.S.S. Indianapolis.....! I just finished reading(again) IN HARM'S WAY by Doug Stanton. I'll never forget the sacrifices of all who served in WW2!

Heres one for you Danny. Lamps on my ship on one of our more interesting days underway, should bring back some memories.

Being a Tincan sailor is special especially on the Frigates because it's the worst shipboard duty they have.

But Disney Land and World would be Jealous because everyday underway is basically an E ride. Those are the best and most dangerous rides at the parks. :)

Were you on the 1985 Mediterranean Cruise on Kalamzoo; she almost ran over the Frigate I was standing on flight deck of. When we broke away the engines stopped it was a sight to see as that 5 story building was coming at us. We were getting ready to jump but she was able to turn enough to miss us. ;)
Not that cruise. I was on the K'Zoo 1978-81. I was on her during the Iranian hostage deal, hauling supplies from Diego Garcia to the ships in the Gulf of Oman.

Son had just landed the SH-60 of HSL-48 on a FFG Underwood while crossing the Atlantic in Dec.1993. The main mounts were coming off the deck after landing which got his attention. :)

I was riding the Milwaukee AOR2 back then with her Air Det. The Perry class frigate flight deck was only about 12 feet above the water underway, so seeing the K'Zoo coming at us was a sight to behold. Same class of ship as in Wyandot Jim's photos above and same helo just 9 years before.
