I had one once in 44 Magnum.
Ended up being more of a novelty item to me so ….. down the road it went.

I had all 3 cartridges before I left Alaska for Idaho. Sold all three when I left. Since I’m back I have a 44 mag and a 454. Decided I can get by with one at my age. So I’ll keep the 454 and sell the 44. Before I left I knew 2 guys that killed bears with their Alaskans. These days I don’t use 454 ammo, am happy with a hot 45 Colt load. In my opinion they have 2 things going for them, they are easy to shoot and are more accurate than they have a right to be.

It's the only Alaskan I have, and am I glad it has the Hogue grips!
Lots of 44 Mag's here at my place, carbines, Blackhawks,Redhawks & a couple lever guns.
Thankfully my Dillon 550 puts out 300 rounds/hour!

This is my second Redhawk and it is made much better than my first one i owned back in the ‘80s chambered in 357.
This is more accurate with much tighter tolerances. Kudos to Ruger for the Alaskan, now to put some more visible sights on it, like D&L Sport offers.

Good thought but in my opinion the Toklat is not an Alaskan. Ruger can call an Alaskan a Buick but that doesn't make it a car and without that scope mount the Alaskan is not a Toklat.

Traded my Alaskan .454 C a few years ago for a S&W .500 Mag. I can hit the target with the S&W, I couldn't hit the side of a barn from the inside with the Alaskan.
