Ruger Mod. 77/22RF, and 77/22Hornet with the two part bolt that has the locking lugs at the rear of the action have not been as accurate as they could be due to the excessive and changing headspace. It seems that due to the small difference created by the two piece bolt that accuracy can suffer.
A fix that worked for me was learning about and obtaining shims from Shively Sales in Michigan https://triggershims.com/ruger_m77.html Then following their instructional video I placed the shims between the two bolt pieces and it tightened up the groups plus stopped the flyers that I had been previously getting. I had tried everything to get the Hornet to shoot better, bedding, cryogenic treatment, different scopes and lots of different loads. But this inexpensive fix worked wonders. Thought I would share!
