TV troubles

I have a LG LED TV that's about 1 year old. Today, the picture went out, but it still had sound.

My wife is NOT happy with a flat screen radio.

There is nothing in the troubleshooting guide on this problem. I unplugged it and then replugged it. Same problem. I checked it on our bedroom connection. Same.

Ideas? Solutions?

I don't know anything about fixin TV's but you better do something about the wife not being happy or you won't have to worry about the TV. :wink: :wink: Hope some one can help you.

check for a bad cable connection on the receiver.

I have an LG tv that is one year old also. I don't have this problem though sorry. Check the inputs. Do you have a DVR with cable or what exactly? Try unplugging everything cable etc and hooking up just a single DVD player. Does that work? You should have multiple inputs on the back. Try them all...

We have ATT with a dvr box to the side. Which is how we change channels. It has gone bad which caused us problems in the past.

Good luck. One year....so just out of warranty! Yeah I had a computer do that too me...

I thought an old crt TV quit working once. It turned out my 4 year old was playing with a switch that switched from cable to antenna. We needed a new TV anyway. Ended up putting it in the basement.

With the TV on, turn on the menu and shine a flashlight on the screen. If you can see the picture you probably have a bad inverter board (it controls the backlight function). If no picture at all, it usually means that the tcon or main video board is bad. Also take a close look at all capacitors. Any with a bulged out top is bad and needs to be replaced. Youtube is your friend to research all of this.

If there's no picture with ANY source then the thing is toast. I don't know if they have replaceable video components or not... Most of these modern electronic gadgets aren't designed for repair... Only for replacement.

I had a new tv for 10 days once, until one of those tower fans got knocked into it....

We are really happy with our LG tv. The menu is easy to use and after a year the picture is still very sharp.

Do not buy a Panasonic. I have a Panasonic plasma and it has crapped out twice in under 3 years. Luckily we (the wife) purchased a 5 year warranty so it was fixed both times for no charge. If it breaks after the warranty is over I will trash it for something else.

Do not buy a Panasonic. I have a Panasonic plasma and it has crapped out twice in under 3 years. Luckily we (the wife) purchased a 5 year warranty so it was fixed both times for no charge. If it breaks after the warranty is over I will trash it for something else.

We have 2 Panasonic plasma's that are 3 years old now never a problem, but come April 20th "You Tube" will no longer work on them cause Google is no longer supplying the application on some year models of Panasonics and Sony's due to the fact they don't have the application built in that forces you to see their commercials or adds.

I'm real pissed off about loosing You Tube on my TV cause I like to watch all my old TV westerns on it, it sucks watching them on my computer vs. a 55" flat panel.

Went out after work and got a 50" Emerson, including a 3 year warranty. I may try and see if the LG can be fixed at a later date.

We just bought a Samsung 55" TV; We had a 42" RCA that I bought in 2005 and i finally gave up on the picture.

Our Sony 55" is seven years old now and beginning to have problems. Picture is badly distorted for the first fifteen minutes then clears up to normal. I wish it would quit entirely so I had a reason to get a 65" 4K smart TV.

Unless something has changed, from what I have read the 4k televisions are just hype because you aren't receiving a 4k signal.

My TV's are 2K that's why Google is canceling applications to send me "you tube" after April 20, they need at least 3K to operate all their adds and advertising, it appears to me the extra K's are not for our viewing enjoyment it's for company's like Google to track our viewing and manipulate what we watch all while filling their own pockets making you think your getter a better TV while all your really doing is paying for extra hardware that they need to send you those adds and track what you watch.

6gun, get a Roku box. www.roku.com
Hook it to your tv, connect to your wifi, and you can get youtube, Hulu and Netflix (with subscription), and a ton of other free streaming "channels" including a bunch that show old westerns.

Get this. 3 days after my post the TV crapped out AGAIN! Third time is less than 3 years. 6gun, I don't know what model Panasonic you have but this Viera of mine is garbage! I've googled the problem I keep having and there are a LOT of others with the same issue. One of the boards it uses is very prone to failure.
