How long is the usual wait for getting a Ruger repaired? I just bought a new SS Bearcat. It has 2 problems. One of the chambers was smaller than the others (???) and the base pin is very tight (I have to use a screwdriver to get it out). It's been 4 weeks and I still haven't got it back. Is that typical?

I sent one in a year ago and it took 10 days with travel time included.
Today they seem to be swamped with work. Anything gun related or ammo related now is either slow or hard to find.

A month for me.

Last month I sent in my new LCR that was defective. Ruger sent me a new one. Well unfortunately, my new replacement was also defective. I sent the new replacement off today. :(

They say the third time is a charm. :?

Would all depend on what is required for work. Remember, the current climate and the fact that all manufacturers are doing full out on production so theyre ahh, a bit busy.

I finally got Bearcat back after 6 weeks. The good news is they sent me a new one. The bad news is it's defective. Only shoots about 50% of the time. The firing pin barely sticks out. Geez, this is my first gun. I didn't realize it was that hard to get one that works.

The pin only 'sticks out' about 0.004-0.005". What ammo are you using?

I was using Aquila Colibri, the kind with no gunpowder. But I also tried another kind, I'm not sure what brand. I thought it might be the ammo but then I tried the duds in a Heritage Single action and they all shot. 100%. If the Bearcat is that sensitive to ammo I need to return it and get another brand.

Shipped back a brand new M77-357 on March 18th, and it has been in Ruger's posession 5 weeks tomorrow.

It seems to me that Ruger's quality has slipped as their production has increased. I work in manufacturing so I understand how it works, but as a loyal Ruger fan, it is disappointing.

I would prefer that they take longer and make sure their product was checked out thoroughly. In my case both guns were completely defective. It wasn't some minor issue that was difficult to detect.

Sorry to hear of your troubles with the Bearcat, Madison. Hopefully the situation will soon be resolved to your satisfaction. Welcome to RugerForum!
