Just could you tell us your top 4 handgun cartridges and tell us why. Could be 2 semi autos and 2 revolvers or any combination. Just to keep it simple no rimfires, or rifle or shotgun cartridges. I don’t want to make it as awkward as if you could only have 4, but make them your favorites. This is tough for some of us, give it some thought.

.357
.44 Mag
.45ACP
.40S&W

The .357 serves dual duty... Self defense as well as a survival cartridge in the woods or mountains.

.44 Mag as a hunting cartridge.

.45ACP as it's a great range and defensive cartridge.

.40 as it's a very potent yet shootable multi purpose round, in the most concealable of handguns.

And right or wrong, I'm combining the ..357 and .44 with their Special counterparts.

10mm. Hunting or self-defense. Revolver, semi-auto pistol, or carbine capable. Here's why I like it so much:

Blackhawk
Ruger LC carbine
TNW carbine
Glock 20
Glock 29 compact
S&W M&P 2.0
TC Contender
Sig X-Ten

I guess honorable mentions to my:
.44 Mag (Henry rifle and 3-screw SBH)
You're killin' me, Smalls. No rimfire takes out a lot of Rugers at my house.

357 Mag
41 Mag
45 Colt
480 Ruger

.38-Spl, .45ACP, and 9MM NATO, not necessarily in that order.....I used to have a 4th, but gave all my .45LC stuff to my Daughter a year or so back. If truth be told, I'm not all that crazy about the 9MM either. Mostly I only keep the ammo around because I do like my old forged gen-u-wine Hi-Power pistols...as-in, a lot. Nice guns, them are.

9mm - cheap to practice with and good defensive properties
45acp - big, slow, and hits hard - just like me :)
380acp - easy on the hands when they ache
357SIG - when I want to be different and cause a commotion at the range

9mm, that is about it.
If I were to use a handgun to hunt .357 or 44 mag
If someone would make nonproprietary 5.7mm mags I would think about buying either a handgun or PCC in it.

9mm somehow rates too because it's cheap

.38/.357 self defense and target
9mm self defense and target
.45acp The Lords Caliber. I love 1911’s and they have to be .45’s

I have others for fun but I could live without them.
