It's been so stinking hot lateley that I haven't been to the range in weeks but it was a little more cool this morning so I went. I think I've got me another keeper. This is my flat top Bisley in 44 Special and the group was fired at 25 yards over my knees. The load was an RCBS 240 gr. GC cast of straight wheel weights and sized .431". W-W cases, CCI 300 primers and 17.0 grs. 2400. I had 6 rounds in the cylinder but after looking at the group I chickened out on pulling the trigger on that 6th round because I knew it would land somewhere in the white. Group measured 1.3" centre to centre.

Good shootin'! I've got a standard grip .44 special flat top that's only seen Magtech factory rounds because I'm waiting on my dies to show up. I've got Unique and some 250 grain Keith bullets to try the "Skeeter" load of 7.5 grains, but I also have 2400 that I can try.

Do you have a chronograph that you could use to check the velocity of your load? I'd be interested to see what it is.

Hammer,
Yes I do have a chronograph but I haven't used it in years. I'd think this load would be pushing 1200 fps.

Tom, That is great shooting. I really like your grips. I picked up a bisley 44 special the other day and it shoots very well also. The only thing I didn't like about the gun was the way the grips fit the frame. Pretty sloppy in my opinion. I am thinking of after market grips for mine. Where did you get the grips on yours? From the photo it appears they fit well.

Definite keeper and damn fine shooting. Good choice on holding back on #6 (based on my personal experience 8) )
