I found a NIB Toklat on GunBroker and just had to have it. I have been looking at tracking every hour. Anticipation.... Like as if Santa was due soon.
 
Bearskinner , there were three of them on GunBroker, all in the $900 range.

Rumrunner, I load most of mine down closer to heavier .45 Colt levels just for range blasting but the option to go for the gusto when needed is what it is all about. This is my second .454, the other has the long barrel with ultra dot mounted.
 
It's mostly because I have 3 other 44's and prefer to load same caliber. That being said though, I did have a Super Redhawk in 480 chopped down.

It makes for a very handy revlover in the field and I think you will enjoy yours.
 
I think you will really like it. I got mine early this past spring and only shot it for the 1st time last weekend, shot about 6" low with Hornady 240 gr. XTP, working on getting it sighted in, one more trip to the range should do it. Bought mine from Cabela's at $999, original plan was to sell it for a profit most likely to someone in Alaska, but after admiring it, and finally shooting it I think I'll keep it (for now). Have nothing to hunt in my area that justifies a .454, but a trip to the mountains for something larger is never out of the question. What holster do you have or are you considering for yours?

That would probably be the most comfortable way to pack it, definitely not a light weight gun. I have a Simply Rugged chest rig for my SBH and may opt for the holster from them for the Toklat since I already have the chest harness. Did you get both front sights with yours, red ramp and the gold bead?
 
It is on the mail truck and out for delivery as I type this. I did not know about the extra sight set until after I had already closed the deal and the add made no mention of them. The scope mounts and lock were in the pictures. We will se if the sights are there this afternoon when I go to pick it up.
If they are there, they will most likely just go in the parts box along with the scope rings and a couple other sets.

Mine came with only the red ramp from the factory. I read that some came with 2 sights, called Ruger, gave them the SN and had one a few days later at no charge. I put the gold bead sight on and like it much better, on this gun anyway.
 
I picked up my Toklat after today's Cowboy shoot and man is it sweet.it did have the extra sight set included also. Can't wait to shoot this one. I am range officer next Sunday so I hope I will be able to shoot it then.

When I got to my dealers today, he showed me a like NIB Ruger 5 1/2" SS Bisley
.45 Colt . Made in 2004 with a box from the same model but not the same s.n. .
At $475 , I just had to have it too. I can ream the throats if need be, I haven't measured them yet.
 
Pics for those who asked. I should be able to shoot the Toklat this weekend. I am the range officer for the open to the public shoot so if there aren't just loads of people there I will get-er-done.

Here is a picture of a couple Bowie knifes I built in the last couple months working when I get time. Both were started from raw bar stock. 440C SS on the large one and 154CM for the smaller one. Brass guards and Elk antler for the handles.
 
WOW! Those knives are really beautiful. Nice job. Wish I had that kind of talent.


BTW: The guns are great too. I have a pair around here somewhere just like them.
