I know most of us here consider the occasional walk in the woods with your favorite sixgun, along with the requisite shooting as therapy. There is just something about the whole experience that is calming on some level. However, I have found a secondary therapeutic use for my revolvers that I thought you guys would appreciate.
In December I had carpal tunnel surgery done on both wrists two weeks apart. It was a much needed "adjustment" because I was frequently without feeling in my hands. Although the recovery period has been to some degree painful physically (maybe more so mentally because I have to ask my wife to open jars for me). The doctor told me it would take two to three months to get back to normal. No shooting hot loads for a while, or slamming in magazines (don't ask me how I know).
But through all of this I have found the PERFECT therapy for strengthening my thumb muscles and limbering up my palms. I spend about a half an hour each morning drinking my coffee reading through my emails and my favorite forums while cocking and un-cocking my favorite revolvers. Thankfully I can do this in the privacy of my own home, as most of the sheeple would find this kind of therapy a bit unnerving. For me though it has had a dramatic effect on the healing, limbering up, and strengthening of my weak hand muscles.
There is also a secondary effect. The triggers on my BH's are getting incredibly smooth!
So if any of you find yourself in the same situation, it works wonders and I highly recommend it!
