I put together a photo collage of the single actions this morning...

SA-Collage.jpg

From left to right, top to bottom, they are:

A recently-acquired first-year-of-production .30 Carbine. I bought this after buying the one next to it (the photo at the top right) because I wanted to shoot a .30 Carbine handgun. The one on the top right (I bought it from RCA230 on this board's Classifieds section) is an unfired .30 Carbine with a 3-digit serial number. It is too nice to shoot.

Old Faithful, my 200th year Super Blackhawk.

Old Faithful, Jr., my 200th year .357 stainless Blackhawk. This is the one I shoot the most. With a 158-grain Keith in front of 7.0 grains of Unique, it is a real tack driver (well, maybe a thumbnail driver). It is a lot of fun. It gets a lot of attention at the range because unlike the wannabe Rambos shooting their plastic 9mm guns held sideways, I actually hit what I am shooting at. They think it's the gun that's making the difference.

Two NIB .44 Mag Virginian Dragoons. These guns have all their paperwork, the original boxes and sleeves, and unturned cylinders. One is stainless; the other is blue steel and color-case-hardened frame. Both have 8 3/8 barrels. I'll probably sell these in the near future to fund the addition of another Ruger or two.

My Herter's .44. This has the original plastic grips. I mostly shoot .44 Specials in this one with a 240-grain swaged bullet in front of the same 7.0 grains of Unique. These old Herters single actions were built by Sauer in Germany. Saying this might be sacrilege on this board, but I believe these old handguns were actually superior to the Rugers of that era. The gun locks up tight and it is very accurate. The machine work on it is awesome. I shoot this one a lot, too. If I find a nice one in .357 I would probably buy it.

A 4-digit serial number Single Six. It's fun to shoot. It belonged to my father, who made the custom grips you see on it.

A 10 1/2-inch Super Blackhawk. I bought this one years ago when they first offered a 10 1/2-inch model, but I haven't fired it much.

From where I'm sittin', I think you already have a heckuva collection. Mighty mighty purty!! Thanks for posting.
