I need help, maybe an intervention, or someone to tell me it's OK? After owning a Taurus PT111 Millenium Pro for a couple of years, my little brother suggested I look at the Ruger SR9 for the full size pistol I felt I needed. When I went to look at the SR9, I saw the MKIII in the case and decided it was the perfect firearm for the lovely Barbie, so I bought it and brought it home for her. That was Thanksgiving........we went to the range and shot over the Holiday.

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas........Merry Christmas to me! A new SR9! Brother and I went to the range, and the Ruger was love at first shot. After shooting a couple of his shotguns at the range, I realize I need one. My dad gave me the family Winchester Model 12, which is pristine, when I finished grad school in 1975, and I don't want to shoot it a bunch because it is in such nice condition, soooooo.......enter a Remmington 870 in 12 gauge and a Mossberg 500 in 20 gauge with both barrels. I say to myself. "I'm done".

It is now January, and my lovely granddaughter announced that she had joined a 4-H club called the Sharp Shooters. WHAT???? Yes Grandpa, we shoot guns. Oh geeze......we now have a Savage MKIII in .22 caliber with Williams peep sights. Yes, it is similar to the Jr. Olympic rifle she shoots at the 4-H club. God help me.....I'm done.....

I read that Utah modified their CCW law that requires me to have a permit in my home state to renew my Utah non-resident. Off to the Ohio CCW class. Wouldn't it just be my luck, the instructor is also dealer and has all kinds of wonderful things on the table that creates a burning need in the pit of my stomach.....today, I became the proud owner of a new LC 9 and a SR22.

Am I losing it? I feel like a kid......granddaughter, brother, and I are going to the range Sunday.....it's going to be a good day.....please advise me if I need therapy.

Nope just sounds like you need some friends to go to the range with.

Ya, I really enjoy that.

I never owned guns as a young person (38yrs old), but bought 4 in 4 months. Three are below, and getting my SR22 Sunday.

Its a great sport/hobby. If you dont have some hobby, your missing out.

BTW....go get that SR9 dbracing. It loves ammo.

dbracing ?

I happen to love dirt biking. Is that a hobby for you? Curious because of your name. Just got a new 2012 KTM 300 XC-W. Love off-Road!

I have been racing in some fashion since the early 70's. Then it was bikes, and I rode for Bultaco in the US, Canada, and Europe. Around 1990, I decided that 4 wheels was safer than 2 so I "graduated" to racing cars. As of this weekend, I am retiring from racing. I raced with SCCA and Mid-Ohio was considered my home track. I still frequent the track quite a bit for the pro races where I work on a crash crew.

Oh yes, the SR9 loves ammo. To date, I have 400 rounds through it, and it gets better each time.

I have never had an issue with enough "hobbies" to occupy my time. I still find time to restore old cars and bikes, have a ham radio station, fool around with electronics, and a few other things. At this point, I need to start simplifying my life.......

It's OK!

You are just getting started. It is obvious you have been distracted with the necessities of life. Now they are aside, you can get on with the accumulation of firearms. There is no cure, they must be bought, shot, saved, stored. I know you are new to this because YOU actually know what you have for firearms.

Yeah, Gunrunner. That's where I went and shop alot. They are about to start building a indoor rang there.

Lucky your family is very interested in firearms. Mine on the other hand isn't so much, but at least the gf and the mother are always up for the range.

.....please advise me if I need therapy.

Let's see, you are getting togeather with your family, and building good relationships....

It almost sounds like you could be coaching therapy sessions...

We are back from the range and had a really good time with the granddaughter. Worked on sighting in the .22 target rifle and got it pretty close. She is shooting 3 inch groups at 25 yards. After one more session, I believe she will be even better. The girl can burn through some ammo, but her grandfather doesn't care one bit.

I took the new SR22 and shot 100 rounds through it, using Federal Champion ammo. It liked that just fine, and at 15 yards, is pretty accurate. Another 200 rounds and I will feel good about it. The MKIII is just rediculous in the way it shoots. Just dead accurate.

Granddaughter shot the SR22 and the MKIII very well also. For her first time with a pistol, she was really pretty good. Just before we left, I handed her my SR9 and she went through a full magazine with nothing but a big smile on her face. She said that it was her "favorite". Now, this 14 year old is 5 feet tall and at most, 100 pounds. This grandpa sure is proud of her.......

Similar to what happened to me. I had the same security six for 20 years as my only handgun then bought a SR9c to carry as I started to travel more. Now I have 4 handguns that 3 have been added just in the last 1.5 years. I'm having a blast shooting them and now am licensed to carry so it's all good. :)
