The only advantage a Garand has over an M1A is history. The new Garands have no history.
My money will go towards more M1A's.
I didn't mean m1A's had history, they definitely do not.Just curious and maybe I'm missing something....a lot of Garands have history and you wish they could talk and tell their stories.......but, what history do M1A's carry? All mine could say are being built with cheap overseas parts that were replaced with mostly USGI parts to replicate the M14s and M21 DMR/PSRs I played with in the Navy.....maybe M1A's could have some LE history, but nothing compared to the Garand or M14...the new a new Garand to me has no more "history" than a new M1A.....just my narrow minded opinion.
I just can't see buying a reproduction Garand
But that is my opinion.
I believe the M14 was better than the Garand. Because of it having removable magazines and being chambered in .308.But the M1A is just a remanufactured M14......![]()
Funny you mentioned a No1! There is a #1 in 30-06 at my LGS, calling my name. Sigh…..I have a Garand, and it doesn't get shot as much as it should because I am paranoid about what I shoot in it. I need to get over it and shoot it.
I don't doubt these new ones will sell. I would just rather put the money into something else, like maybe a #1.
I have a Springfield M1 Garand (pre war) xxxxx serial number been there and done it. Not pretty but shoots fine Interested?I've owned many Garands over the years, all purchased through the CMP. I'm down to two, both WWII Springfields. I just had one rebarreled in .308. A few years ago a guy I worked with said he wanted one so I explained the CMP to him and told him if he got one I would too. I sent in my sticky requesting the earliest gun they had on hand in GI walnut, that is all I cared about. It would be my last CMP M1 purchase. They sent me a 5.9 mil Springfield in a CMP stock. I sold it to a friend.
I'm still sort of looking for an older WWII gun, not sure why because I have two really nice ones.
the 14 was the 1st full auto battle rifle issued to troops.
The number on an M1 when I asked google was 100 to 150. AR15 was listed as 65 to 100. I suspect it depends on the model of either whatever the exact number will be. Some parts group might be listed as 1 part, but contain many more subparts. For the record, the M1 has about 80 parts and an AR15 has about 150.

i try not to speak ill of the dead. i fear GOD more than man. some republicans and most democrats don't . they believe lies and distort the very constitution they swore to protect. they would subvert and destroy this country with the hate of president trump as their justification. if karl marx is their god they have a rude awakening.Remember..... AR-15's weigh as much as 10 moving boxes and shoot 50 cal bullets
