Stumbled upon this at:
http://www.clementscustomguns.com/itemsforsale.html

I will have the following gun for sale with delivery about March 2012.
Old Army .50 conversion- 6 3/4" octagon barrel, Bisley conversion with custom hammer and trigger, semi-custom black micarta grips. This will be your last chance for one of these as I am discontinuing the conversion after my next run of guns which will be started in Jan. 2012. Price for gun built to above specs- $2550 ppd. $500 deposit required to reserve.
Options available: other grips with price adjusted accordingly
Extra cyl.- $500
2 cavity bullet mold- $115
Please call to discuss or reserve

Damn, my funds are so darned tight right now but this is a gun I really wanted to build so I called Dave and this baby is MINE!

$500 deposit is paid and I need to scratch up the $2665 balance but it is a Stainless Bisley, with two cylinders and I am getting the custom mold to feed it.

I am going to have to sell a few guns to pay for this one but it will be my first custom. A big honking Stainless Bisley Old Army in 50 cal so I can actually use it in PA to hunt deer! Here in PA, we can use blackpowder pistols but they must be .50 or larger so I have not been able to use my ROAs!

Thanks for posting, you blew my gun budget for the next year however!

You will be pleased.... David turns out a beautiful gun. When I traded for my 50 ROA I went to Mountain Molds asking questions since they made the mold for the SWC bullets for it.. To make a long story short Mountain Molds sold me their bullet mold. Now I guess I'd better be contacting David about an extra cylinder.

Mine isn't a Bisley... Yet.
I have the parts in hand for the conversion for my 50 and my 45 ROAs.. Mine will wear CLC black micarta...

David made Bisley ROA hammers and triggers as a one time thing.. He asked for pre orders and was only making them if there was significant interest. He completed and delivered the ordered parts early this year. Only time will tell if he will ever do it again..

Well, my long wait is almost over. Dave called me this week and saud he is finishing her up and took the balance of the money due. I should have my new Stainless Bisley 50 CAL Old Army sometime next week!

I just hope I can find the time to get some lead cast (I bought his bullet mold too) and find a deer capable load this summer! Again, here in PA we can hunt with black powder pistols but they have to be .50 CAL so I have not been able to use my Ruger Old Army revolvers before, now I have a bigger holster smoke shooter that is legal for deer 8)

I received the Old Army on Friday but we were away too much of the weekend to get pictures. The gun is really nice and I am anxious to cast some bullets and work on some loads.

Anyways, I will post some pics soon. I think I may need to consider having Dave convert my 17HMR single six hunter to a bisley now too! I have all the parts, just been sitting on them a few years now.

The photos do not do the gun justice but best I could get as work has me going crazy...

It was $3165 total as shown ($2550 for the 50-cal Old Army, $500 for the second cylinder, and $115 for the bullet mold). Most expensive non-machinegun I have ever bought but I still have no buyers remorse.

Beautiful!!!... Can't wait to read some hunting exploits this fall. Don't I remember some good cylinder change footage in Clint Eastwood movie Outlaw Josie Wales

Hello,

Sorry to come late on this post, but I'm a newcomer here, and I'd like to get more pictures of the Ruger Old Army Bisley Clements.
FYI, i live in France, where gun control is way more restrive than in the US, so I don't/can't have such a dream gun. But I'm willing to make a black powder Pietta Remington 1858 Stainless look like this custom Clements Ruger.
Does any of you guys know where to find a birdseye hammer for a .44 Stainless PIETTA REM 1858 ? Thanks & have a nice day !

Harry

Great pictures, Noreaster ! Due to the similarities between the ruger OA and the Remington 1858 , do you know any gunsmith that sells / makes custom hammers for black powder PIETTA Rem 1858 ?
As it's almost impossible to get a Ruger Old Army in France, I aim to custom an italian-made Pietta Rem 1858 Sheriff Stainless and turn it into a Clements 50 OA homage.
This can be done quiet easily, dut to the octagon barrel of the Rem, but it's hard as hell to find a bisley-like, low hammer. The Clements hammer is exactly what i'm looking for, so if anyone here can help, it'ill be nice.

Welcome Harry Palmer

It might be cheaper and easier to get a standard factory Bisley hammer, and have the spur cut off, and weilded to the Pietta hammer. Remodeling existing hammers has been done for about forever.

Thanks for your answer, M'BOGO. I thought it would be difficult or impossible due to the differences in size and shape between the Ruger OA and the Pietta Remington 1858. I'm thinking of purchasing a Pietta hammer, cutting and remodeling of strip of stainless steel and weild it to the hammer myself. But I do confess that I'd feel much easier if this custom part would be available without me playing gunsmithing...

I know this is an old thread, but I was just looking at the great pics of the Clements Old Army 50 cal and saw your post. I think is was "Pale Rider" where Clint Eastwood was doing cylinder changes during the shoot out scenes. Jose Wales is one of my favorite Clint Eastwood movies and I have seen it several times. Both are excellent movies.

Just got mine from Dave. Will be hunting in PA as well.
.50 Cal 6 3/4" Kreiger octagon barrel with green optical front site, line bored with cylinder(s) (+ extra cylinder), action job, conical bullet mold. Will be adding a Belt Mountain "Quick Change" cylinder base pin and Eagle Black Pearl grips. He is a true artist and craftsman.

Ballistics com close to my .44 Mag Dan Wesson

170 gr. .490 ball with 50 gr. Hodgdon 777 = 1250 fps.
250 gr. .488 conical with 50 gr. Hodgdon 777 = 1150 fps

both with Wonder wad and #11 caps.

1" 3 shot pattern at 50 yards !

DJWorm, If that gun was line bored, changing the base pin is the last thing I would do. Better to send the gun back to Dave and let him build you a base pin that does not change the dynamics of the cylinder/barrel alignment.
