Single-Sixer
I stopped by the LGS today to pick-up a Smith & Wesson 13-2 I've had on layaway for a month or so. While they were calling in my information for my background check (I'm always "delayed") I told my wife, I'm going to walk back and see if they have any interesting 10/22's.
At one time I was a 10/22 geek, but then I discovered Smith & Wesson revolvers, and the little rifles sort of got pushed to the back. I even sold a couple of the ones I had. But I always checked...just in case.
I glanced at the rimfire rack, and didn't see anything but the usual new 10/22's, CZ's, and Henrys. I had started to walk back to the front when my eye caught a glimpse of a full length "international" stock. Naw...can't be.
But it was. A SS, Wally-World Special, with the full length "international" stock (birch), in near new condition. I mean it's been shot, but no scratches or goughes or anything like that. S/N prefix 248 (which is 1998 if I read the chart right).
The price tage read $259.00. I looked again. Sure enough $259.00. About the same as a new, mundane 10/22 carbine.
I carry it to the front, catch the guy behind the counters attention and ask..."Will you take $225.00? He checks the computer and says, "Best I can do is $240.00."
Good enough....Put it on layaway for me.
