The remake is nowhere as griipping nor as good as the original. Much like "Stagecoach", remakes are rather poor copies in my opinion.

I really enjoyed the remake, but 100% agree with everything you said. I was just happy to see this movie as I got to watch it in the theater with my folks. Great memory for me. I just now finished watching Warlock with Henry Fonda, Anthony Quinn, and Richard Widmark. It's a forgotten gem.

I watched the remake just last week and enjoyed it but for the life of me can't figure out at the end of the movie when the bad guys are out in the middle of the street with Crowe and other hunkers down upstairs in the hotel room and Crowe's mentions are telling the towns people how they are going to kill everyone who opposes them... Why the hell did the Marshals and our Hero just not shoot the SOBs? Speaking of 'authenticity .... so on the gun broker site is says, "Mr. Crowe draws this revolver from its Holster in which way the serial number can be seen, which is another point to its Authenticity." This might show the revolver is the 'authentic' one from the movie but did colt peace makers back in the day actually have serial numbers?

Dang it, now I got to find and watch the original.

I just saw that on GB, pretty cool. Be better with a signed card from RC. I didnt care for Bales character in the movie but crowe did a great job as did Ben Foster (charlie prince)

I saw it on GB as well.
I never saw the Hartford Horsey on the gun where it's supposed to be.
Is it a Colt?
Or an Italian copy?

I've seen both films. I actually favor the newer one because I love the performances of Russell Crowe and Ben Foster, but think the ending of the original is far better! The remake's stunk, like a lot of "revisionists" Westerns.

It's from the USFA before they closed. Did notice the screw to hold the base pin. Yes they had serial # on grip, cylinder, and frame.

Someone must have really liked that mediocre movie LOL The gun didn't even play that important of a part. Now, the original Dirty Harry 44 mag. would be an iconic gun to own, but a Russell Crow gun? :unsure:

I found a guy who made sterling inlays so you could make your own grips. I had considered doing just that. Can’t find that option again, but I did find some complete grips. However, I'll have to win the lottery to make that justifiable.
