I took my wife to NYC over the weekend to attend a wedding shower and had a great time. Although it’s way too crowded and expensive for me, I can sort of see the appeal of living there. Then again I was in a relatively nice part of town.

Glad you liked it. We moved out of the city just prior to our 2nd kid being born, ran out of room for four of us. Did you hit any good restaurants or tourist sites while there?

Like most big cities.... there are good parts and bad parts...Problem with NY and others is the bad keeps growing...

Went there one time. If I left anything I ain't going back for it. Way to much concrete and way too little 'green' anything. I won't talk about the constant noise.

It was a short trip that didn’t allow for much site seeing. We did eat at an Italian restaurant that was good and overpriced but don’t remember the name. As we got to the restaurant the skies opened up with a downpour that lasted 15 minutes. Lucked out with that as we were 6 blocks from were we were staying. We did use the subway but had someone that knew where to go so it went well. Caught a glimpse of the Empire State and Chrysler buildings.

I’ve been there a few times. My wife has to go for work about once a month. She’s really tired of it.

Her brother who is Bulgarian has visited us quite a bit and has travelled with us around, Chicago, Las Vegas, Phoenix and NYC.

But he got remarried and his new wife hasn’t been to the states and is only interested in New York. Simply because that’s what she see on the television.

And Times Square is packed with foreign tourists. Which is good. They spend a lot of money here.

Nice pictures by the way. And yeah, it’s fun occasionally, just because it’s so different than anywhere else.

Yep! We sure did go there. In fact I remember being in high school and going to see that sub.

But yes, my wife and I went to see it. And you’re right, it is amazing.

My wife and I have visited many times. Is one of those "unique" places. Nowhere else can one see an authentic Broadway musical, which was one of our primary reasons to go there. One must adjust to the environment there.

NYC ranks #48 in most populous cities. Unfortunately, I visited several in the top 10 multiple times before I ever saw NYC. That leaves me with the perspective that America's biggest city is nothing more than a bedroom community. YMMV

Been there a bunch of times, just not in the past few years. Do want to get back (shows on Broadway) An interesting place to go if you have time if the Beretta Gallery. Some beautiful firearms and at least wehn we went, the guy there was a very nice, laid back person to chat with. A short walk away is the Holland & Holland "boutique". English hierarchy - you need an appt to view the "firearms library"

Glad you had a good time. I used to have to travel through the City often. Not sure why, but I’d always notice a tall apartment building, pick a window, and wonder who lives there. Maybe because my grandfather was a Super there in the 50’s and 60’s.

Grew up in the Bronx and worked in Manhattan before leaving for Maryland in '71. Went up there when my parents were alive and was there the last time in 2019. Never sorry I left. Too crowded, noisy, & way too much traffic.

I have thought I'd like to see NYC someday but unfortunately you have to go to NYC to see NYC! No effen way!

Same way with California.........I know there are some good parts there but too close for comfort!

NYC Restaurants that I remember:
Luchow's (E 14st) (Diamond Jim Brady used to eat there)
Mamma Leone in Manhattan - now closed (I remember when I was younger and with my girlfriend at the time and they would make us sit in the lower level of the restaurant
IL CORTILE RESTAURANT, New York City - Little Italy = right outside of China town (my favorite)

I lived there for 5 years back in the 70s. Believe me, it gets old very fast. Noisy, crowded, expensive, impossible traffic, and really dirty air.

Our main reason for not visiting NYC in the last few years is the pandemic, and the lousy new Broadway shows in recent memory. The re-releases of older shows (if well done) were certainly worth seeing again. And there are restaurants there which are unmatched. Getting there ain't fun, though. Wifie and I are not afraid of crowds and love a well-done Broadway musical. We also know how to navigate there.

Won a prize from a radio station here in Florida; Two round trip tickets on Jet Blue; 3 days and two nights in a hotel and TWO tickets to the Radio City Music Hall Christmas Extravaganza !
I took my youngest son as his Birthday is Dec 23rd and my spouse had to work and couldn't get time off. Had a great time, visited the zoo, etc and enjoyed the Music Hall Show.

Some years back I took my two young daughters to Lincoln Center for the Christmas Nutcracker ballet. the place is stunningly beautiful and the ballet was spectacular, they were wide eyed the whole time. It was my first and last ballet but I did it right the first time out. If you like the ballet and great classical music then this is absolute must see.

I grew up in Brooklyn, moved away when I enlisted. Retired from the military in 03. Been in Huntsville, AL since 08. Couldn’t pay me to live back on NYC.

Mom born in Brooklyn 1910 met dad who was in the Navey ship was in Brooklyn Navel for repairs. Was in a Typhoon. Uss Bennington CV20 Marr moved to MN 1946. She never looked back.
