Thank you for such a good report on Chattanooga. I am deeply rooted in Tennessee, Hollis Wright having settled in the Mt. Juliet area in 1828. My parents were both born in middle Tennessee, my mother being born in a place called Defeated Creek.

Tennessee is indeed a green area with the Smoky Mountains along the east and the Mississippi River its west border. The Smokies, the Cumberland Plateau, Reelfoot Lake are all attractions. Good gun laws are in effect. Music lovers find country and western music in Nashville and Bristol, while the blues echo in west Tennessee.

And BARBECUE! Memphis is the BBQ capitol of the world! But country ham, blackeyed peas with cornbread and catfish abound!

Bob, we thoroughly enjoyed our time in Tennessee. We visited Memphis a few years ago and I did a story about that in Motorcycle Classics magazine you can read here: https://www.motorcycleclassics.com/classic-motorcycle-touring/memphis-tenn-zmkz12sozbea

This trip we hit Nashville, Gatlinburg, the Great Smokey Mountains National Park, Chattanooga, Chickamauga, and Lynchburg (for the Jack Daniel's Tour). Loved every minute and every mile of Tennessee. I'll be adding a few more mentions on the ExhuastNotes.us blog of your beautiful state. Chattanooga was a real surprise; I had no idea it was such a fine city. Tennessee is indeed a great state. The food, the people, the beauty of the place...all of it. I envy you.

Great line. I lived in Memphis in the early 70's so I am qualified to comment

Avoid: Elvis impersonations (the folks who live there will think you’re talking normally).

Contrary to current American History... it was the men from an area in what is now eastern Tennessee and Western North Carolina that actually saved the Revolution. Look up the battle of Kings Mountain.
