I just recently purchased a Ruger Single-Six Talo Blackbird and was told there were only 400 made. Then I ran into one being sold on Gunbroker and the seller said that a total of 650 were made in both white and black micarta grips with 450 of the White made and only 200 of the black grips made. Anyone know what the true tally numbers are? Thanks...new member here and really enjoy the education I am getting here.

I haven't dug anything out to verify, but if memory serves, there were 450 of the white grip (the first model). Those were so popular that they later did 650 of the black micarta.

Thanks for your reply .. and now there are 3 different opinions as to how many were actually made..any idea where a definitive answer could be found? Talo or Ruger or maybe Lipsy's??..My Talo Blackbird is not a collectors piece ( I intend to and have fired it ) but I was hoping to finalize it once and for all and there would no better place to do it then on this forum as ( in my opinion ) there are people in here who have great knowledge about Ruger ( the company ) and the collectors field as well..Glad I joined it.. :P

Try Jason at Lipsey's. He also peruses this forum.
I'm about sure there were more black micarta grip than white grip guns. The white grip guns sold out so fast that they wanted more the second go-around.

According to Lipsey's the correct numbers are : ( drum roll )

White Grips: 450
Black Grips : 650

People really liked that gun. Went back thru the forums and read about 6 pages of comments when the White grips first came out..Midway thru they were on Gunbroker going for $700 and above. Who woulda thought ? I just recently purchased my Blackbird for $500 so I feel it was a great deal, but then , I am keeping mine. Again thanks for all the help..great bunch of guys in here!!
