Boy howdy, I'm amazed at the difference in prices for T-posts.

Local Tractor Supply has them for a tad under $1 foot. Home Depot has
them for a bunch more, Lowe's has them for close to Tractor Supply prices
and . . . AMAZON . . . has a somewhat reasonable price, except thy want
about one point five times the post cost (added to the post cost) to ship
them to you.

If you look at what/where, it seems to imply that Tractor Supply, being a
farm type supply place, brings in a bunch of them and manages to save
you gobs and heaps.

Oh well.

I was looking at steel plate targets and the way to support them for a
temporary range. I found several types of hangers for T-posts, but figured
that leaving them in place would be a cost that needed consideration.
After looking at the post costs, I'm probably going to go back to another
way (2x4s with chains) as something less expensive, AND one that can
be readily disassembled when you finish for the day. :D

Anyone have some better ideas? :D

Mine is made out of 3/4" pipe and some elbow fittings and t fittings.
It has been together for quite some time so probably wouldn't come apart to easily now.

How about 2 - 3" PVC piping. It can be assembled and disassembled in no time. I built a portable target stand from 1 1/2" some years ago. If you should ding it duct tape corrects the oops.

I haven't tried them yet but I thought something like this was a good idea. I think there's other similar options.

$1/foot is WAYYYY too high. It's bit outside the normal T-post market period--TSC & Orscheln ads don't have any listed. IIRC the end of year t-post pricing was around $3.29 for 6' standard weight(1.25 #/foot) posts.
I hang my plates on chains from a pair of t-posts with a steel spreader bar. One plate has been in place for at least 5 years and still solidly supported.

Depending on the size of your steel targets you can find those steel shepherd hooks used for hanging
plants. Stick them in the ground and hang your targets.
I also made up these target hanger stands from 2 treated 8 ft. 2x4's per stand.
You can staple a foam target board to them or put a hook in the middle and hang a steel target in center.
In picture my wood stands are on the left and right.

. That’s a good looking range! Throw clay birds down on backstop and shoot all day. Shoot until our hands turn black.
