I use a capacitor when I need a specific voltage, but VERY limited
current. For example, if you have a NiCad battery that does not want to
take a charge any longer, you hit it with 12V and the current in a large
capacitor. If it had what it commonly called a whisker that keeps it from
charging, said whisker is burned away, without ruining the cell.
Try to start an engine with one? I seriously doubt it. The capacitor would
have to be MANY times the size of the battery, and could not fabricate
current that was not in the source.
Electricity is simple. You do not get something for nothing.
