What do you all find as far as costs go for the 44 vs 454 super redhawks or alaskans on the used market? Does one typically sell for more than the other or is one harder to find that the other?
I see mostly 44 Magnums. The 454, and 480 are not nearly as common unless you go on GunBroker to locate one. I have 2 of the 480's myself, and have owned 2 other 44 magnums over the years.
Around my area the prices are the same when a dealer has one.
I almost never see an Alaskan in my area, new or used.

The Alaskans run higher as they are fewer. The 44/454/480 guns are the same valuewise, but prices are all over the board. I have picked up 2 SRH's lately for a hair over $400, but see them listed for up to $700 by the hopeful.
At all the local shows I see around me the Alaskan .44 mags run about $300 cheaper than the .454's. If you look at Ruger site you'll see they list at the same price. But, locally the .454 are at list ( or so) and the .44mags are usually at $650-750.
Why? ....well, my opinion is the movie "Faster". Some folks just gotta have that movie gun. I remember what happenede to S&W mod 29's after "Dirty Harry" came out !!
Unless you reload you're going to find sticker shock at .454 rounds, if you can find them...now.. or 10 years from now.
