I picked my SBH up from Alan Harton today good as new! It seems that I was getting light primer strikes because the transfer bar was too thin. Who'd have though? I have no idea how that could be and Alan wasn't going to guess. He replaced it, cleaned and lubed the action, took it out to the range and put a bunch of magnum loads through it. Even though Alan has a year + backlog on his custom work, he turned this around for me in less than 2 weeks and was very reasonable on what he charged me. Great Guy!

I sure am looking forward to coming home from the range with a box full of empty brass instead of misfires.

Just curious. Why didn't you send if off to Ruger?

Good question. Based upon long turn around times and uncertain quality with other shops around town, I probably would have sent it back to Ruger if Alan had not been so convenient. Rather than mess with shipping, I was able to drop it off at his shop and pick it up when ready. Also, Harton has a great reputation. I could stand face-to-face and discuss it with him and he charged a very reasonable fee. He also test fired it before I picked it up. Heck, it's worth what I paid simply to hear someone with his ability tell me that my SBC is a real tack driver!
