I've found some Jay Scott grips I really like marked #60.Does anyone know if they'll fit on a new model super with square trigger guard? I'm not sure if there's a difference in an old model(three screw) dragoon frame and a new model.They're advertised as "super blackhawk grips".Thanks

It should not matter if it is an old model or a new model SBH as long as the gun doesn't have the lock.

The only difference in the SBH's is that the short barreled SBH's (4 5/8" & 5 1/2") have the XR3-RED grip profile on them and the long barreled SBH's (7 1/2" & 10 1/2") have the larger Dragoon square back trigger guard frame on them.
You have to know which grip the #60's fit.

Here's one more thing that may help. Ruger has had basically three sizes of plow handled grips since they started out. You see the three sizes in the drawings below. As I said, the short barreled Super Blackhawks have the XR3-red grip frames that are the same size as the regular Blackhawks.
Only the long barreled SBH's have what most folks consider the true Super Blackhawk larger Dragoon style grip with the square back trigger guard.
So, as I said, you need to know if those #60 grips fit the smaller grip framed SBH or the larger grip framed SBH.

Understood CaryC.I've got 12 or 13 supers from 3 3/4"-7 1/2" so I know about the grip sizes.Just didn't know if the three screw was different in some way than the new model (other than the ones with the lock).I'm in the process of changing most of my shorter barrels to the square back grip for better hand fit and recoil absorption and now needing grips for them all.May eventually hit you up for a pair of the excellent grips you make 8) .Thanks

from what i have, jay scott grips don't fit very well. some fit ok, but most are under sized and to thick in your hand. factory ruger grips are only a little better for fit, but feel better in the hand.
I have several pair and they seem to fit okay but you're right about them being way to thick.Out of probably four pair,only one is thin enough for a decent grip and they're still not thin.The ones I'm looking at don't appear to be to thick..I hope.

most of my rugers are NM & stainless, and seem tobe larger than blued frames
Same here.The grips that fit my blued frames seem to be a tad small on the stainless (mostly at the bottom) so not sure what's up with that.I'm sure somebody's covered that on here in times past.I should just go ahead and buy some real grips instead of the sears version but sometimes you just see something you like.
