Does anyone know the thread pitch of the little bugger ?
I had a broken screw and I need to re tap the socket on the barrel ....

The current model that threads directly into a hole in the barrel uses an 8 - 36 thread. Just for reference the old style with a stud sticking off the barrel uses a 6 - 36.

how sure are you of the thread size...... would that be 32 tpi instead of 36 tpi ?

Positive, I've drilled and tapped the hole several times after shortening barrels less than 4 5/8" and always used the factory Ruger screws. You won't find a 32 thread on guns, it's too course.

Mossberg prefers 10-32 for scope and rear sight mounting - "strong like ox."
