Thanks for sharing. I have bought a Bounty Hunter SA, made in Germany, that shoots the .45 Colt. Good to see I am mirroring these handloads.

They are really nice guns. Some say the USFA guns were nicer than Colts & I might agree. But the Standards I've looked at seem to beat the USFA's in fit & finish. And as Brian Pearce confirmed, spot on internal measurements.

Any big fan of SAA's that haven't seen them yet should check them out. Colt's aren't getting any cheaper, & USFA prices are through the roof. That usually happens when something nice gets discontinued. The Standard is a bargain considering.

I see my Favorite Gun Store has several Standard
Manufacturings in Blued and Nickeled models,
just arrived.

All are finely made just like my U.S. Fire Arms
Revolvers.

Once in a great while they get a Colt SAA in,
but they’re Craftsmanship is on par
with the Uberti’s unfortunately.

I'd been looking into getting one of their 4 3/4" single actions. I must have really wanted it because I'd have had to buy all the reloading components for 45 Colt.

As luck would have it I found a mint Colt 3rd Gen. 4 3/4" 44 Special LNIB with all the goodies at a gun show a few weeks back. It was hundred$ less than the Standard would cost with tax and shipping.

I also was looking at their entry level real royal blued 1911 with a solid blue trigger. Wow! I recently went on their website and the slide now has those hideous front cocking serrations. Maybe they can still be had without them.

There's a newer Colt on Gunbroker right listed as New Old Stock. It's obviously a chemical application, and not a very good one. The current price it's going for is outrageous.

Yeah, it was my thread. For whatever reason, it was locked.

But I did some googlefu and saw some complaints about Standard. Specifically, several people had purchased their SA revolver and upon delivery, saw that the CCH finished was buckled/bubbled.

This is off the Colt forum from last year. It wasn't the only one.

The OP received a defective gun and contacted Standard. OP said Standard's warranty says full refund, etc. They refused. They said it was normal, nothing wrong with the gun, no refund.

That's not a good sign. IMO.

I'd honestly buy one, but it would have to be a part of some store's inventory where I could inspect it first.

They make them in 44-40 . I have 2 . Both now shoot point of aim . Not so when the first one arrived . I called and they sent a call tag .
Had the revolver back in 2 weeks and it hits spot on . I've heard people comment on how Standard Mfg. people are arrogant to deal with yet I had just the opposite . The revolver shot 1" left of POA at 25 yds. I asked them if they could fix this problem and they did .
I would/will buy another one . Really well built revolver

I have not had ehe ability to see the Standard Manufacturing in person, but I had only read good things. These are not inexpensive as I recall they were on par with the factory Colt SAA prices.

Spending $ 2K or so, I would prefer a Colt - only because of the name - assuming performance was the same with both.
