SR9C Signed, Sealed and Carried

After many months of research, money issues, etc. I finally made my first handgun purchase!

Got it last Saturday:
Black SR9C
Crossbreed Supertuck IWB
Lock Box for the car (Since I can't carry at the office, but can while I am on the road for work)
Box of Critical Defence Rounds for Carry
Box of Target Rounds (Wife and I walked over to the range after the purchase and went through that box)
3 Months of Range Membership
$617 all together. Found some better prices from links here, but wanted to see someone face to face, get questions answered, etc. since this is my first gun.

Carried it all week sometimes with a coat, sometimes without. Felt like everyone was looking at it, but no one commented or really seemed to notice.

Just a quick thanks for everyone on here for all the great feedback, comments, suggestions. It is great for introducing and guiding us newbies to the handgun world!

I think you made some very well thought out choices. It's nice to be able to enjoy it all now. Shoot the snot out of it!! BTW, the feeling that everyone is looking at you will go away after you've carried awhile. Congrats on your purchase!

You'll enjoy your SR9c.. it's a great CCW!! I never was a big 9mm fan, but the -c converted me and became my daily carry after carrying a P90 45ACP for quite a while. I miss my P90, but the little -c is a lighter and easier to conceal!!

Congratulations on the new purchase. I've got the same setup except my SR9c is the stainless model. Conceals well in the Crossbreed and is very comfortable. I think you're going to like this pistol, I've had mine since early this year and haven't had a hiccup yet. And yes, keep carrying and soon you'll have the strange feeling when you're unarmed :wink:

That is the EXACT same thing I did. I bet myself five bucks I know where you got it from too! lol. Was it Top Gun Shooting in Taylor Mi? I just got mine on Tuesday last week, bought the gun new with a SuperTuck IWB. Only reason I went there was because they were the only place in Michigan who had one I could test out first rather than wait weeks for it.

I shot my SR9C last Friday and went through about 140 rounds with no problems. I did however have a problem off the start where the bullet wouldn't feed right, was getting hung up because the firing pin was catching the case of the bullet, making it so it would only go in half way. Seems like I didn't have enough oil on it but works 100% now.

For some reason I think people can see a point sticking out of my back because of the pinky extension but just like you, no one has said anything =).

A big +1 to all the previous posts. It sounds like you did it the right way. Buying sight unseen online can be a little nerve racking. Personally, I don't mind paying a little extra to know exactly what I'm buying and who I'm dealing with. I think you're going to be glad you went with a Ruger. I'd also like to make a suggestion. There are quite a few shooting clubs there in Michigan that participate in IDPA including the Wayne County Racoon Hunters Club in Romulus that I believe might be close to you and Shadowburnz. I'm not sure, I hav'nt been up y'alls way in years. If you're not familiar with it, the International Defensive Pistol Association is a practical shooting sport using real world carry guns (ie. no fancy race guns) to solve simulated threat scenarios. I think you'll find most of the people involved are more interested in having fun and practicing with the guns they carry rather than serious competition. You don't usually have to be a member of the club or IDPA to participate and it's a great way to meet like minded people (as far as concealed carry), talk guns, and practice in a safe enviroment. You can check out the IDPA website to learn more and to find club listings in your area. (Sorry, I don't know how to post the link.) There's my sales pitch. I wonder if headquarters will give me a break on my membership dues?

Steve, if you are carrying this downriver in Michigan, rest assured that everyone else is carrying one also. In addition, no one is looking or cares.
A bulge these days is meaningless. Means a pager or a cellphone.

That's right where I went. They have been great to deal with. I also took my wife to the Free First Shot class they offer so she could get used to it. She was very hesitant on this until I got her involved. The trainers there helped ease her concerns and even caught us outside to offer congrats on feedback on our purchase.

smolsson, contrats on the decision to protect yourself and exercise your 2A rights. No disrespect intended, but I'm sure some here are thinking your new 9C is still unproven in the reliability department for carry. Most guys seem to want to put 200 to 500 rounds through a gun with no failures to consider it reliable to bet your life on.

You've got all the hardware and the permit. Time now to burn lots of ammo, work on your presentation and trigger press and aim. Soon it will feel as odd without your sidearm as it does when you forget your wallet.

Thanks for the advice. I have been trying to get out to shoot at least every couple weeks. Also practicing drawing in front of the mirror. (unloaded of course) Great gun so far!

That thng is so small that noone will ever see it but you.
The sldewidth is 0.980" and the gun is a very nice package.
