In my original post I was asking about the trigger on the SR9 because in a high stress situation I would not want to pull the trigger when I really didn't want to. For that reason I've always been a fan of DA revolvers or traditional DA/SA semi's. My usual carry gun is a 20 year old Taurus 85 DAO .38 snubby. The trigger is very heavy but very smooth.

Around here a DA/SA compact 9mm is hard to find. Everybody is selling Glocks, XD's, SR9's, M&P's, an occasional Beretta PX4 and some model of Taurus. I handled the PX4 and that trigger was too heavy, a lot heavier than my 92F.

Wanting an American made 9mm I found myself looking at the SR9c and the M&P9c. The thumb safety on the M&P is more user friendly than the Ruger and the trigger is heavier, which I like. They both felt equally good in my hand. The Ruger was $150 cheaper and being the frugal person I am I thought the Ruger was a better buy so that is what I came home with.

I know I'll enjoy it as a recreational shooter. I don't know if I'll like it as a carry gun. Time will tell.

Haymaker, heresy I tell you. Haven't you read the posts that go on and on about the rotten trigger that Ruger put on their crappy SR9 and how those that own one should get all their money back because they can't get one to group worth a lick. What alternate universe are you from? :D What now? Are you going to say a 10/22 Target is a good shooting rifle? My god man, the humanity.

I transitioned from a wheelgun to my first semi-auto for carry. I've had the SR9c for 7 or 8 months and couldn't be happier with it. I don't remember if I ever fired the full size SR9, but I was told the trigger is the same. If so, I don't know what the big fuss is about. I was shooting respectable groups out of the box. My recommendation is to take it to the range and keep shooting it until you find you can't live without it.:)

1av8r,
Thanks for the encouragement. I have a range here on my property but I haven't had a chance to shoot my new SR9c yet. Lately, I've read so many negative posts about the SR9c I'm afraid to take it out to find out I may have bought a lemon. Perhaps by this weekend I will have had a chance to shoot it. I hope my experience is the same as yours.[/quote]
