My brand-new Ruger SR40c had to go back to Ruger on July 3. Ruger was very nice and emailed me a shipping label literally during the phone call. I dropped the pistol off at UPS on July 3 and received it back today, July 11.

The pistol had been suffering light strikes (a lot; as many as 3 per magazine) and started locking back after every shot. Not after every magazine. After every shot. Obviously it needed to go in.

The pistol came back today, and at lunch I took it to the local pistol range. Put 123 rounds through it, using all 8 of my magazines. Not a single issue, so Ruger definitely came through.

Incidentally, Ruger replaced the slide stop assembly, the slide stop spring, and the striker assembly. They then put 40 rounds through it.

You can say what you want about this episode, but Ruger certainly took ownership to the problem and fixed it. Gotta love that. I have been buying Ruger products since the early 1980s and this is the first time I have had to use their legendary customer service. Now I see why everyone speaks well of it.

Very glad to hear all of that not just for you but it confirms everything about Ruger CS I've known and heard. I'm glad to hear about the replacement parts, that's where I would have looked. 8 days total including shipping in both directions, new parts, $0 == PDG.

SHOOT IT!

SHOOT IT!

As you saw in my post above, I did. More this weekend.

Hilariously, today I got a package from Ruger. It was a very nice Ruger-logo baseball cap. I guess to say "I'm sorry you had to send your gun in."

Anyway, mark me impressed with Ruger's CS and repair team. First time in 32 years of buying Rugers that I have needed them, but they were there when I did.

Really glad to hear about the 40c making it back in good status. I was wondering what happened with this pistol about the time they did the big server upgrade. :D Its nice they included the cap.

Well, I have put 123 rounds through it since it came back and every single one was a good strike, no feeding issues, etc. And the pistol really is startlingly accurate. So I think I can accurately report that the gun is perfect and it is now my "bump in the night" gun. Figure .40 S&W is an ideal HD round. Fun range gun too.
