I went to a IDPA meet- big mistake..now it will be consuming me....but fun. The spotting scope on my bullseye box (does that date me) is not great closer than 25 yards...and I see some with IPhone attachments...do a screen grab and review later I think...I don't need the scope for shooting IDPA but do for practice beforehand. Anyone have any advice?

Thank you...I could have written the question better...the scope I was using was ok at 15 yards but I broke it and need to replace it...the one I have on the box now is really better for rifle...so if upgrading what is current best practice

Speaking of being dated my old Swift model 821 spotting scope is over 50 years old that I still use. It has 5 eyepieces for 15, 20, 30, 40 and 60X magnification. Still as clear as a bell. No plastic, it's made from cast aluminum. It was priced at $84 bucks back then.

I can see a knat at 1,000 yards. Haven't ever really tied it for something up close. I'll have to try that the next time I go to the range.

I also have an old vintage Tasco spotting scope that was made in Japan that I don't use but it's pretty good for what was considered a cheap spotting scope back in it's day. Japanese glass is better than what's made in China.

Thank you. Your Swift looks a lot like the Kowa TS 9 I have. Great at 100 plus yards. Maybe I can find a cheap one for less than 25 yards. Maybe even replace the eye piece but that may not be easy on a mid 80s scope
