Got my blue 4" speed six out today and the cylinder will not open.
It is unloaded.
Anyone know a fix or had this happen before?

The ejector rod has probably come unscrewed a bit. Use a small dowel, half a wooden clothes pin or another non-marring rod and push against the knurled head of the ejector rod to tighten it a bit. Hemostats may work too but tape the jaws so they don't mar your ejector rod. It's probably reversed threaded so push in a counter-clockwise direction. A few pushes should be enough to tighten the ejector rod enough for you to open the cylinder. After you get it open, unscrew it all of the way and put a drop of Blue Loctite on the threads and then reassemble it. Hope this does the trick for you.

if it has been sitting for any length of time, whatever lube was in or on the gun ,may have coagulated and 'stuck" the parts in place............ put a few drops of kroil or any rusting inhibiting oil, rustbuster, etc and spray the ends of the cylinder, the ejector rod, you coukld pull the hammer back and make sure the cylinder even turns any,yes squirt a bit down on the inside, back of the recoil shield while you are at it....then holding the release in ( down) tap the right side of the cylinder downward on the top of your knee, and it should pop right open............yeah you could "pad" the top your knee first if you have soft, weak or brittle bones..... 8)
then as noted above, double check to make sure the ejector rod did NOT come unscrewed...........

Rugerguy: it cycles just fine either manually cocked or dry fired.
I just had a holster made for it and it worked last week.
Thanks both for the suggestions.

What about where the rear of the cylinder latches into the center of the recoil shield? I've had some gunk get in there to the point where I had to give it a good firm push to open the cylinder after pressing the cylinder release. I made sure I cleaned that area quite well along with making sure that spring loaded "button" at the rear of the cylinder was clean, lightly oiled, and not binding.

It's just another possible thought here...

ADP3: first day off so I got a piece of wood and turned the ejector rod counter clockwise. It backed off and the cylinder opened freely. Now for some loctite

Glad that the procedure worked and everything is OK now. Happy shooting.

There is a lock washer in the cylinder assembly that is to prevent that. Before you lock tite it, be sure the lock washer is in there........................

Maxpress,
The washer may be there. They like to hide. The washer sits on the outside (muzzle end) of the ejector spring. Sometimes it gets lodged in the tube of the crane pivot assembly. You will have to completely disassemble the crane pivot/ cylinder to check.
