Speed Six grips

I just bought a 1982 Speed Six, SS, 357,4" bbl--with pachmeyer grips---are original wood grips hard to find? They dont have to be perfect,it will be a Jeep gun THANKS

Speed Six grips of all sorts come up on Ebay and Gunbroker all the time for cheap.

I think I'd go with at least a 44 if not a 475 if I was going to shoot Jeeps... :wink:

Put a Want To Buy ad in the Classified Section here.

I bought a couple of nice sets of Security Six grips over the weekend for $20 each including grip screw.

And ~ if you have a local "mom and pop" gun store in your area, ask them if they have a collection of old used grips in a drawer somewhere. That's how I found mine over the weekend.

Check with Rugerguy, Dan usually has some available. Also, i believe he had a set of Herrett Shooting Stars for a Speed Six on his table at the OGCA.

Ruger sold 1.2 million of those revolvers and the grips aren't hard to find.
FergusonTO35 had good advice too.

I find the factory grips too small and use Pachmeyers on mine much of the time.

SHOPRUGER.COM has the larger target grips in their "Attic Treasures" department right now.

By the way, 4" Speed Sixes are bit uncommon. I'd suggest at least keeping it in a padded pouch to keep from getting too scuffed up.
I also assume that you have a good locking vault for it in your Jeep - don't want it to go "missing", either.
