I need a grip panel dowel for a speed six with a 160 s/n prefix. I know I can order one from Numrich but it seems like I should be able pick up a roll pin at the local Ace hardware if I knew the dimensions and make one. Does anybody have the dimensions for the dowel? I appreciate any help I can get.

good info above, just a hint, make sure you 'roll' (round) the edges of a roll pin, especially if you cut or grind it down and it is 'square" and sharp, they can 'split' the wood stock .............in the early years the locating pins were always beveled on both end.......

The big box stores in my area no longer stock roll pins. The local Ace hardware didn't have a solid roll pin in the correct size but they did have a tension roll pin that fits perfectly. And the best part is it is beveled on the edges. That's for all the help.

Solid Roll pin? Please correct me if I am mistaken but what I call roll pins are a tube with an open seam along one side and spring tempered; what I believe you are calling a tension roll pin.
