Well I finally joined the ranks of the old model blackhawk owners. I dug up all the change I had in coffee cans in the garage an purchased a three screw unmodified blackhawk 357. It appears to be in excellent condition, no wear marks, no blueing lose, no turn line. It also came with the box and the warranty card, although sadly no manual. It felt so good in my hand I could not turn it down. It's a six digit serial number which I beleive would put in around 1968, but what the heck, you have to start somewhere. Cannot wait to try it out.

i bought a gun once that way too-amazing how fast change adds up!in fact , i am filling a jar right now for the next one!

Nice find! What barrel length?

Problem with the old models you should know about. Pretty soon you're going to want a .44, then a .45, then a .41, then a .30 Carbine. You might feel an urge to "pair up" with the .357 and get another .357....

And then you'll start to notice the old model Single Sixes and Bearcats....

OOPS, forgot to mention that. Barrell was 6.5 inch. Yeah your right about the old single six's. I have been eyeing one for a while. I have new model single six's, blackhawks in 357, 41, 44, 45, and vaqueros. I also have Bisleys in 357, 41, 44, and 45. as well as Bisley 44 specials, including the 7.5 inch model and the stainless 44 special. But this was the first old model I have picked up. I must say I like them quite a bit. Now to find that OM Flattop. I must have a Ruger fetish.

Sold my 44Flat top w/ 6 1/2" bbl some years ago. Was at the gun club the other day and there's an ad for 44FT 7 1/2" in nice shape on the bulletin board. $800 with ammo and Alfonso holster/belt. I called the # and bought it. Waiting for the seller to come to town in a week or two to see it and do the deal. Meanwhile I'm checking behind all the couch cushions for spare change. Didn't get a serial number but if it indeed has an original barrel, I can pretty much date it from that.
