Someone please enlighten me...why is the snub nosed SP101 called a "PIG" by some? I think its funny. IMHO
Armadillo? Javelina?Hugh said:Never heard that. I wouldn't call it a pig. I'm not sure what small animal I'd refer to, but it would be a tough one. Maybe a badger or a wolverine.
For sure they would be effective. Fast hollow-point. Yep. I prefer to carry Federal Hydra-Shok 38+P but that's just me.Sloman said:FAT, HEAVY and SHORT NOSED? Hey, that may be why!
I got one yesterday and am wondering what to carry in it.
Could only find 110 JHP Winchesters at Wally World, but I heard that may be a decent load...anybody carry that load? How do you like it?
Is it effective enough for a 357 Magnum self defense load?

Geezer said:PIG Put it In the Gut I have heard that term used for all short barrelled guns. Same as a Belly Gun.
Hmmmmmm. :? Are you sure he didn't say pug? I have a very vague recollection of such a thing. :?cimarron8889 said:I thought I saw an article in an older gun magazine where the author called 3" barrelled revolvers pigs.
2"-snub
3"-pig
4"-service
6"-target
I believe he used this terminology.
