4) "The Mystery of the Nile: The Epic Story of the First Descent of the World's Deadliest River" by Richard Bangs and Pasquale Scaturro. 7) "Army Uniforms Since 1939" by Mallo, McGregor, et. al. Illustrations cover the uniforms of major powers since WWII up to early 1980s, including resistance fighters and guerrillas. Text explains context of the use of he items shown in 271 color plates: uniforms, small arms and other parts of each force's "kit" like belts, pouches, canteens, packs and helmets. PB 165 pp. exc. reading cond w/some page edge spots. $4
8) "The Visual Dictionary of Military Uniforms" by the editors of D-K Publications. A typically detailed D-K reference that focuses on military uniforms across the ages but includes many items of personal gear and weapons as well, including unit patches and military medals and badges. An excellent source for beginning militaria collectors/re-enactors to help get the terminology right. HB 10x12 1/2" format 64 pp. exc. cond. illus w/over 200 original color plates and a 3000-term glossary. $6

The ground, airborne, and amphibious assaults by US, British and Canadian troops that broke through the last German defense line, against fanatical resistance. Remagen and the rest of it. 14) "The Face of Battle" by John Keegan. Famous British military historian and WWI veteran's study of three historic battles--Agincourt in 1415, Waterloo in 1815, and The Somme in 1916 (he was there), seeking to uncover their common features. Studies all aspects of large-scale combat and human behavior at all levels within it. Plain English. HB 355 pp. exc. cond. w/slight dust jacket tear, illus w/b/w photos. $5

15) "Nelson: A Dream of Glory, 1758-1797" by John Sugden. Very complete biography of the early period of the great British admiral. His early life and career, the stunning victory against the Spanish that made him an admiral, the defeat that cost him an arm, and his development as a commander whose valor later destroyed France as a naval power and cost him his life. Quality PB 942 pp. exc/new condl illus w/b/w photos and repros of original paintings and maps. $7
