Some things my mother taught me................

I posted this on Facebook as sort of a tribute to my mother, and thought it might go well here,too:

I pray that this offends no one, nor is in the wrong place. But tomorrow is Mother's Day and I reflect on some things my mother taught me. She taught me:

Never go out in public without being clean and well dressed. The way I look is a reflection on her.

Never misbehave in public, that's a reflection on her.

Never, ever, misbehave in church.

Respect all ladies.

Never utter a foul word.

Sit and stand straight, never slouch.

Go to Sunday School and Church every Sunday.

If I got a spanking in school, count on another when I got home.

She could overlook a bad grade in a subject at school. But never one in conduct!

Always be on your best manners at church and at the table.

I've always held the axiom: "To ride well, shoot straight, and tell the truth at all times.

"



I can't remember the first time I read that axiom from Bill Ruger, but it sounded good to me and I sort of adopted it along with Mother's teaching.

My mom taught me to cook clean and sew. She wanted me to not have to get married. To be able to take care of myself.

My grandmother taught me how to make bread, soup, Head cheese, and how to butcher a deer.
