Heliman, The firing pins were known for breaking etc. Its fairly easy to tell if its been replaced or not. take the gun out of the stock, remove the trigger guard assembly and then try and rotate the firing pin, if it dosent rotate then it has the updated pin. hope this helps you out.. and a bump for a VERY nice winchester.!

All of these were subject to recall, which I believe can still be performed. In either case, recalled or not, that is a fine rifle with a good price.

If only I had not committed to a .22 LCR today......

Well, this rifle is untouched as far as take down goes. I down want to take it down and bugger something up. I will gladly refund money and pay for shipping return if it has a broken firing pin or if the buyer doesn't want to do the recall, if it hasn't been done. I bought it and a .284 Win from an older gentleman who bought them new. I sold the .284 on this website and the buyer was very happy. The old guy said they both functioned fine when I purchased them from him. I was going to keep the .308 because it was so nice, but I don't want another safe queen and don't shoot 100's. It is a beauty.......
