Hi,

I've recently switched hammers on my newly acquired Birdshead Vaquero due to my very small hands and have decided to sell the original.

It is the exact Montado style hammer that Ruger incorporates with their SASS New Vaquero's, Birshead Vaquero and Bisley single actions. They can no longer be purchased individually from Ruger, only with the sale of one of these handguns. The hammer will also fit any of the New Vaquero line. The gun that it came with I have owned under two months with under 350 rounds of use.

Asking $50...includes shipping!

Thanks for the interest! :)

Heide

I Thought Montado hammers were checkered not grooved? That looks like a Super Blackhawk hammer.

Wow! If this is true it is rather disturbing! I am new to Ruger single actions and am certainly no expert! I am going based on the information that I had received from the folks at Ruger. I was told that it was a wide spur Montado style (perhaps the word style is the issue here) and was distributed with the mentioned single actions. Super Blackhawks where never brought up whatsoever.

If I was given inaccurate information I certainly do apologize to have forwarded it!

Thanks Guys!

I just got off of the phone with a much more competent customer representative at Ruger. You're right! The hammer from my Birdshead Vaquero is a high gloss Super Blackhawk hammer! It's still in the Montado style design but will fit the Birdshead Vaquero, New Model Super Blackhawk, New Model Blackhawk and the Old Model Vaquero.

I cannot express how apologetic I am in forwarding incorrect information. I am very embarrassed  and upset with the customer service representative that gave me this false info and now know not to trust him in the future. I have also contacted Robb to apologize and inform him of the situation at hand. I am waiting to here back from him to see if he can still use it or not.

Again, thank you so much! You good people out there are..."Simply the Best!" :)

Heide,

No problem on the hammer name situation. It is all part of the learning curve on nomenclature on the Ruger firearms. I am still sending the payment out today along with a corrected shipping address.

You will find the guys here on the forum are very helpful in learning the ropes per se on names etc. For heavens sake, just never call a Vaquero an old model Ruger!

Take care,

Robb

I will ask for "jump in" the commentary forgiveness up front, and normally I don't offer commentary.

Yes your info was a bit skewed,

BUT when you provide QUALITY pictures as you did,,,
The 1000 correct words were in the pictures.
