This old movie just popped up on DirecTV and I am recording it. Even after all of these years it still makes me smile.

It owed a lot to C. W. McCall's song "Convoy".

The song and movie must have sold many millions of CB radios.

My CB is on the side tray of my toolbox in the cellar. I just can't convince the wife to let me install it in her Tucson. At one time we both had them in our cars. She was "schoolmarm" and I was "teachers pet".

SAJohn, that picture was on my old photobucket account. I see now they blocked me!
Here is the same picture off "Postmyimage" account.

I bought a Ford Excursion to tow our travel trailer. I dug the old CB out to mount in it. Also bought new radio with Sirrus so we can have tunes/news anywhere. It'll also play DVDs so I put a screen in the back seat to keep the grandson amused on long trips.

this past week, semi house bound with the horrible heat, I watched Burt in "White Lightning" and "Gator".
Still very enjoyable, but about half his lines consist of his hilarious loud laughing.

I remember when it was filmed. I think I was about 11 or 12. A lot of it was filmed in/around Clayton County, GA. We stood outside the Old Hickory House that was where Main Street, Forest Park forked off from Old Dixie Highway & watched. It was only a couple of blocks from where my uncle lived. That was where they filmed the bus stop scene. I enjoyed the movie. Clayton County is a different world now compared to how it was then.

Still can't quite figure it out... but a few years before that movie came out a I and a friend drove his Trans-am from S.C. to Fort Worth and packed it full of Coors Beer and drove back... I'm not making this up.
