It's Memphis in May, and the World Championship BBQ cooking contest is underway! The smell of hickory smoke and pork cooking wafts through the air, mingled with the sweet smell of privet hedge and honeysuckle blooming.
And, Freedom Preparatory Academy here in Memphis announced 100% of the graduating class are headed for college with scholarships. These students are primarily black, from low income and single parent homes. Some even just grandparent homes. All have scholarships and are bound for four year colleges.
