Got in the woods around 6:30 this morning and sat till around 9:30 without seeing so much as a leaf move, so decided to leave. But before I left I decided to try the distress whistle, got these four in about ten minutes time.

Looks like some "Big Eatin" and some Great Shooting. Maybe it is time for a road trip, we have to wait until August Fifteenth [15] here. I am surprised that they have not outlawed the "whistles", they work so good, I have had Coyotes come in to them. Enjoy the meals. Good Luck and Good Shooting Chris

Really enjoyed your squirrel story and picture.

I am constantly trying to control the tree rat
population in our shelter belt. I usually use
one of my 410 (bolt or pump) shotguns. I used
my 308win Rem Mdl 7 once, that was a blast.

Unfortunately I have never heard of a "distress
whistle". Sounds like it would be helpful to
get one.

How'd you get yours and what brand are you
using? Are they an in the mouth type or made
out of wood type? Are they like a coyote call?

Thanks in advance.

I wasn't sure either how it works. I saw
a video while researching calls.

It's easy to use. Hold the green plastic
funnel and just shake, side to side. You
can place fingers around the opening
to change the tone.

Also to make the distressed young squirrel
just blow into the green funnel, short quick
calls.

Hopefully I get to try it out soon.
