Slide stop on my P345

The other day I was out shooting some ammo, (checking to make sure every pull of the trigger goes bang and I don't have a bent firing pin), and found that the slide stop moves out of the slide a fraction of an inch, just enough that the pistol won't fire. There is a small wire spring on the back of the slide stop and the tip seems to be broken off. Can someone remove their P345 slide stop and post a pictre of the wire or tell me where I may get a picture that I can compare with mine?
Thanks in advance.

You should be able to find a picture of it in the parts list of your instruction manual that came with the gun. or you can go to www.ruger.com and down load the manual for you're gun.

Been there done that, there are only front shots, nothing of the back side of the slide release. Before I order one ($35) I'd like to make sure that mine is in fact broken. The little wire should have a "J" bend or "Hook" on the end that goes into the frame, correct? Or am I wrong.

Go into the manual again and you should be looking for part #30.
There is a full view of it in the manual.

That wasn't what I was looking for but now that Ive seen that part I'll have to check my pistol as I'm not sure I have one of those either. I was looking to see the slide relaes lever itself as that I think is broken too.

Thanks for the pix bowfita

If that little spring is put in upside down with the wire showing too much in the release pin hole, the wire will come out when you push the release pin into it. The wire is there to catch the groove on the release pin when inserted. This is what provides resistance when you push the release pin "button" to remove the slide.

But...I think now that you may be talking about this spring, which provides resistance when you push up on the release lever (I hope I didn't add to the problem with the wrong pics):

Thanks Bowfita, those are the pictures I was looking for. Both look like what my pistol looks like. Now I don't know what's causing my slide release to back out of the frame when I fire the pistol? I guess I'll have to play with it a bit.[/b]

Take out the guide rod (first pic) and push the slide release lever into the hole and see if the wire catches in the groove on the slide release pin. That seems to be what holds the lever.

other than the issue you are having with the slide stop are you happy with this gun I have been really close to getting one

I'm really pleased with my P345. Soft recoiling, eats whatever you feed it, accurate, excellent SA trigger and a decent DA. Accuracy is very good and ergonomics very good for me. Ruger's new design recoil spring and cam block sure goes a long way to make the pistol easy to rack and still soaks up the recoil. It's the best .45 I've ever owned. I'd recommend it with no reservations.
