I am going to look at a SS Single Six. Has both magnum and lr cylinder. Owner states there is no warning on barrel. What year did they begin putting the warning on the barrel? I am not sure of barrel length. But any idea of value?

IIRC ... 1978

Brand spankin new $445

USED ~ $350

I like to buy them ~ $250-300

SS? Stainless Steel? Yup, it's probably a "pre-warning" example, that is, it's a pre '78 vintage.

Value? If never fired, never had the hammer cocked it's a "retail" valued gun....

In other words, IMHO, buy it and shoot it.

Mine has the "Warning". Long ago I learned to "not look at the warning" if I was worrying that the "warning" would reduce the value...

After I'd welded up the hammer and cut in a "half cock" and quarter cock" notch I figured my Single-Six wasn't worth one damn dime.......

Ah, but it shoots like a "house a'fire!" :D

Cheers,

Right on Durango!
I "ruined" my OM SS6 by rechambering one hole, (The "hammer down" one  ) to .22 WMR. I'd do it again in a heartbeat, it's value is increased to me!
