Single Six question

There is a singe six for sale on another forum and is serial # 111xxx from about 1958-59. It has a silver colored cylinder and I don't know if it's alloy or whether someone put a later stainless cylinder on it. Any ideas? The rest of the gun is all blue (or blue-black).

It's not an alloy cyl from the look of it but the owner can confirm that for you immediately with a magnet.

If it's blued in the flutes which it also looks like in the photos, it's just had the blue polished off.

If not dark in the flutes, it's a stainless replacement.

Whatever it is, it's not factory original like it is, for sure.

Mike, I was looking at that one too. The cylinder is the wrong colour to be a lightweight. It looks to be polished steel to me. Not worth the asking price in my opinion. Also, most of the alloy cylinders, if not all, are chipped in the cylinder notches. David

It's definitely a steel frame gun, it's not black like a lightweight, and as David posted, not an alloy cyl either. Also the lightweights only came with 4 5/8" barrels.

. . . and the lightweights were in the 2XXXXX serial number range.

Looks like a nice "shooter" to me, but then I always fall for "unique" old Single-Sixes.

If the price is right, I'd buy it.

Hi IMO someone just buffed the cyl and the ejector rod housing for a 2 tone look has the safety update been done ? if the price was right it would be a neat shooter get the cyl and housing blued and it would be a great shooter good luck

Agreed.

If it has been "converted" acquiring the necessary original parts to "un-convert" it could run you $50 to $100 if that's important to you.

Just mentioning this as info when considering if the price is "right" for you.
