Single 10!

I want one! Ive been looking for a SS single six for a while. Looks like I will be getting this instead of a 6 shot. Does any one anticipate any issues with this or was it a simple change of some parts[ pawl, cylinder,etc]?

Only minor mechanical changes to go from 6 to 10.

It would be an ideal trapline pistol... except for the sights. Make 'em just like the sights on the adjustable sight Single Six, and I need one.

I had not seen that one yet either... I wonder if standard front sights would fit as I would love to have a 10-shot... I wonder how long before it is a convertable 22lr/22wmr)?

I don't think we will see a convertable. I would think Ruger would offer it right from the git go if they were going to. Seems as if this is going after the plinker market. The single action version of their semi auto 22 if you will. Upgraded sights, less expense to purchase than a convertible, high capacity and cheaper to shoot all seem to market this gun towards the nontypical single action crowd. I would be more excited if it was 22 mag only. Wonder if these use a barrel with a diameter more suited to 22 lr instead of the convertibles that use the 22 mag barrel. If so might be more accurate than your typical single six shooting 22lr.

anyone know the dimensions on the cylinder? i know Storys makes a 8 shot 22and 22mag for the SS. so might a 10 shot be possible too? just a thought.

I just saw it today too on their site and it's very tempting. Tho' I'm still deciding if I want to get a SA 22LR or a convertible so I can also do magnum. Though 22 LR only does simplify what ammo I need to collect. :mrgreen:

I like it, I got the email today from Ruger and they hit another big homerun. They are that much closer to a 10 shot GP100 .22LR.

Sadly, I doubt if they'll use a smaller bore than the Convertible models. They didn't do it with the single cylinder .22LR "Star" models, nor with the single cylinder .22LR "Bisley" models.

One can wish, though...

As I said in the post in the Lounge, I doubt that you will see a Mag cylinder as the closeness of the holes to each other and the pressures the mag produces probably would preclude it.

IMO - Chances are very slim. They haven't done it in the past and it would require more bbl stock (added mfr costs) It would also open up the chance of a slip up in production of making a SSS-6 with an undersize bore. I just don't see Ruger stepping out on that plank.

IMHO, one of the things that allowed semi-autos to take over is the trend toward heavier revolvers. Why carry that mass of metal if you only have 6 shots?

The cylinder and frane are still too long for .22's.

Newsflash.....the .22LR and .22Mag operate at the same pressure. The slightly larger diameter of the .22Mag's case and rim may be a factor but pressure is not.
