I shot my Ruger #1 45-70 with open sights today. After moving the rear sight blade all the way to the top the gun still shoots a foot low at 40 yards. Do they make a shorter front sight for it?

NECG makes Ruger front sights in different heights. I ended up getting their gold face partridge sight and filing down to get POA.

QC going back into the toilet at the Ruger factory? That is evidence of a basic flaw in final check.
Maybe it is not such a big deal as there is talk again on the other site about Lipsey telling customers that they no longer will be serving as the distributor of No 1s and of Ruger cutting back to a one model/round a year for the foreseeable future. Of course the MSRP will continue its majestic rise irrespective of QC fails.

it's a shame Ruger put open sights on an expensive rifle like this that are impossible to sight in.
