Show off your leather holsters

Guns like knives shouldn't be "stored" in leather. On the other hand my little NAA mini pretty much lives in that holster.

I wear it daily and it goes on when my pants do and comes off when the pants do. I do take it out of the holster and night. This gives an opportunity to inspect it. No sign corrosion.

I should note that when I go to the range the first things I shoot are what I am carrying. And they get cleaned afterwards.

Question for the group. First off, there's some beautiful leather here! My question is- what holster do you all find comfortable and workable while seated in a car? I'm 6'2", and at 290 I'm a bit thick around the middle. Gun is a 4 5/8" Blackhawk. In the older vehicles, bench seats or flat faced buckets made it somewhat easier. But all my current vehicles have more supportive seating. I can IWB a full size HK45 with no issue- that rig has a 25* forward cant. But the Blackhawk holsters seem to ride more vertical- and run into the back bolsters, base bolsters, my ribs, etc. And a cross draw doesn't work either, and is not very concealable unless you're wearing a big coat.

Any ideas?

Here is my six gun quick draw Western style revolver and leather holster. It is a .357 Mag 6.5" Ruger Blackhawk, purchased in 1965, which I still own!. I use to quick draw with it as well.

I have built a cross draw for almost every pistol and 'carry' revolver I have. I find them much easier to 'ride' with. Carrying on my right hip is in competition with the seat belt latch. Now, those that know us know that Hvymax and I are opposite ends of the spectrum size wise. I also have a couple vests (lite weight and heavy) that have a 'carry' pocket.

I carry everyday, and my constnat companion is a Ruger Blackhawk .45. This holster has become my favorite. Its a modified No. 1 Shuck from Doc Barranti, modified to my specs:



The one on the right is Doc's Hipshots Model.

And here is another custom rig, modified from a Brill design, by American Classic Gunleather, shown on the right:




And, for those longer barreled revolvers:






Left to right: Unknown maker, came with the SBH I bought; El Paso Saddelry "Shootist" Model, and Doc Barranti's No. 1 Shuck, modified with the Ethan Edwards band, or cuff.

And, there's more: Bob Mernickles's PS-6SA:

It's those darn guns...if it wasn't for them, you wouldn't need those holsters.

So, I do a lot of horseback riding and a lot of hiking. I got used to thigh rigs during my military and LEO years amd always modified them to make myself comfortable.

This one, for my S&W 627, was built by dissecting a Galco Phoenix Holster and installing the mounting points for a Safariland QLS system. It works great and I can use any SL parts that accept the QLS.

I like my guns grip to ride at pocket height.

I make my own so the $$ spent on leather and assorted other items needed is incidental to actually doing the work. Keeps me 'amused' while doing the work.

Holster collecting has always been a fun part of the hobby for me. Especially digging through the bargain box at a LGS. Cool old duty holsters especially. It’s fascinating how they changed over the years.

I wore an old Bruckheimer to the range this morning. I need to replace the strap.
